Speaking of Online Help System:

FORMS_DDL contains 4 (four!) practical examples. What more do you need? POST-QUERY and POST-BLOCK are explained quite well; what did you not understand?

The documentation says what these built-ins do. What prevents you from creating a sample form and trying it by yourself?

POST-BLOCK - when leaving a block (i.e. navigating out of it, going into another one).
POST-QUERY - after performing query (usually used to populate non-database items).

I've never used post-block, despite coding 100s of forms. Post-query I used all the time for the reason LF stated.
